VM50: Objectives

On successful completion of this course, the student, with the aid of the appropriate reference materials, should be able to:

  1. Understand basic virtualization concepts as they relate to z/VM
  2. Navigate a z/VM 3270 session
  3. Know how to log on/ log off and know the various statuses that the z/VM session can be in
  4. Issue CP and CMS commands and interpret the output
  5. Know how to obtain and navigate the FILELIST screen
  6. Use the Xedit editor to edit files
  7. Display and process their spool files
  8. Communicate with other z/VM users
  9. Understand what the uses of the z/VM directory
  10. Know what the DIRMAINT and RSCS features provide
  11. Understand what parts of the z/VM directory are relevant for a Linux virtual machine
  12. Understand the uses of the z/VM Virtual Switch
  13. Understand the various network constructs available on the System z and under z/VM.
