On successful completion of this course, the student, with the aid of the appropriate reference materials, should be able to:
- Understand basic virtualization concepts as they relate to z/VM
- Navigate a z/VM 3270 session
- Know how to log on/ log off and know the various statuses that the z/VM session can be in
- Issue CP and CMS commands and interpret the output
- Know how to obtain and navigate the FILELIST screen
- Use the Xedit editor to edit files
- Display and process their spool files
- Communicate with other z/VM users
- Understand what the uses of the z/VM directory
- Know what the DIRMAINT and RSCS features provide
- Understand what parts of the z/VM directory are relevant for a Linux virtual machine
- Understand the uses of the z/VM Virtual Switch
- Understand the various network constructs available on the System z and under z/VM.
